Anethi Movie Synopsis: A food delivery man with a medical condition falls in love with Subbu, a housekeeper, who he believes is his world. Trouble begins, however, when the two become embroiled in a case involving the death of an elderly woman.
Anethi Movie Review: Vasantha Balan, who is known for making emotional films, comes up with a well-written, hard-hitting thriller in Anethi that is quite impressive in many ways. Though started off as another love story with Arjun Das and the Dushara-starrer going through a medical condition, it turns into a poignant emotional drama with a well-crafted conflict.
Within minutes of the film, we are introduced to Thiru (Arjun Das), a food delivery man who suffers from chronic obsessive-compulsive disorder. He gets a sort of 'killer instinct' whenever people mistreat him. He meets a girl named Subbu (Dushara Vijayan) in a luxurious house in the city, owned by a stubborn yet aggressive old woman. Thiru is comforted by her presence and decides to visit her often in the name of delivering food. As the two fall in love with each other, trouble begins when the old woman dies under mysterious circumstances.

Subbu and Thiru get involved in this issue, which blows up after entering the old woman's family. Can they sort it out or will they succumb to the heartless monsters?
What is interesting about Aneethi is the premise and the set up. The concept is so fresh, and most of the events that unfold are quite organic with a sense of realism. Vasanthabalan staged a major conflict in the second half with the entire cast present and that's when the film reaches another level. Most filmmakers introduce their protagonist with a medical condition without a believable backstory. But here, the flashback sequences in the second half work and lead right into the pre-climactic sequence.
Also, Vasantha Balan's writing shines as the film progresses. He makes his hero go through a lot of adversity which will obviously bring out the killer instinct in him. Here, the difficulties that Thiru is forced to go through are believable and make us empathize with him. This emotional thriller even has twists, but they are subtle and to the point.
Another great aspect of the film is the cast. Every actor associated with this project understood what the filmmaker needed and delivered it with all their heart. The lead actors, Dushara Vijayan and Arjun Das, in particular, have given excellent performances. Arjun displays various emotions throughout the film, and it's something to behold. While most actresses want to choose roles that make them look good on the big screen, Dushara seems to want to do a character that is close to reality and stands the test of time. He effortlessly pulls off a complex character adding a touch of realism here. His performance is top notch in the police station sequence where Arjun Das is harassed.
Also, other actors including Vanitha Vijayakumar and Kali Venkat have done a great job. The background score and songs of the GV release is an added advantage. There are a few sequences that don't fit the narrative, but that's forgivable because the writing is pretty effective throughout. Overall, Anithi is definitely a good comeback for Vasantabalan.
