LGM: Let's Get Married Movie Review: Ever since it was announced that former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was taking the lead in producing the film, there have been huge expectations for his debut. While Let's Get Married (LGM) has an idea to please all kinds of audiences, the writing and technical aspects of the film fail miserably, leaving us wondering why things went wrong. There are a few moments that generate some interest, but overall, things fall flat with clumsy filler scenes.

Director Ramesh Tamilmani doesn't take long to introduce the lead couple, Gautam (Harish Kalyan) and Meera (Ivana), who have been dating for two years. They decide to get married, but Meera is apprehensive about having to live with Gautham's mother (Nadia) after the wedding. Meera has an idea and requests Gautam to bring his mother on a trip with other family members so that they all understand each other better. Gautam agrees and takes them all for a walk. However, things take a turn when Gautam's mother realizes the real motive behind the trip.

What follows is a series of events that Meera and Gautham's mother travel together, discovering themselves and life in an adventurous way.

A girl wanting to spend time with her future mother-in-law to understand her better can easily be the basis of a good script. But the makers of LGM have only expanded the idea in a screenplay of over two and a half hours with forced laugh scenes and disembodied narration. Rarely does a sequence give us space to witness the transformation of the main characters' arcs.

What's unintentionally funny is that the central characters are made to fight a poorly designed CGI tiger in the final act. Another major drawback is the inconsistency of color tones and awkward camera angles, which give us the feeling of watching a short film at times.

With it being a film that involves a journey (both literally and figuratively), it should immerse the audience into its world and force us to step into the shoes of the characters. But here, numerous green matte sequences make things worse.

However, the cast — Harish Kalyan, Ivana, and Nadia — do a decent job and help elevate some of the sequences with their screen presence. The director has also taken on the dual duties of music director, but that doesn't help at all.

Yogi Babu, with his witty one-liners, manages to captivate the audience from place to place. The best part is that the comedian, at times, speaks his mind that the story is not interesting enough, which is also the case with the film. It's an average romantic drama that doesn't give a home run.
