Pizza 3: The Mummy Movie Synopsis: A restaurant owner experiences mysterious activity in his kitchen, only to discover a connection to the hauntings of his place.
Pizza 3: The Mummy Movie Review: The third installment in the Pizza franchise follows the typical horror genre template of a ghost seeking revenge against those responsible for his death. While nothing new, it manages to stay true to its genre with well-staged jump-scare sequences and a few elements of mystery. But the sharp tonality shift in the second half, becomes a flaw as the film turns into an emotional drama.
The story begins with a man bringing a mysterious mummy doll to his family, which later ends up at a restaurant owned by Nalan (Ashwin Kakumanu). Nalan, who is already facing pressure from his girlfriend Kayal's (Pavitrah) brother, now witnesses horrific events at the restaurant as an unknown delicacy appears in the kitchen every night. In parallel, an influential person is killed under mysterious circumstances and Nolan's name is also dragged into it.
The events that unfold further reveal the hand of a supernatural presence in the restaurant's kitchen. Who is this soul and how is Nalan connected to the rest of it?

Mohan Govind starts the film very strongly by setting up a perfect plot where a restaurant turns out to be a haunted place. The hero, here, is a restaurant owner, and has no idea how the dish is turning out every day. It's all good, and the audience is made to invest their interest in finding out who's behind it and exactly what's going on. A couple of jump scares work in the first half, mainly due to the technical aspects and staging.
But then, the trouble starts when we get to know more about the ghost and its back story. The author's intention to provide an emotional and heartbreaking backstory is convincing, but at some point, it undermines the horror experience that was initially set up so well. There aren't as many twists as the previous installments, and the story turns out to be another revenge story.
Ashwin Kakumanu's portrayal of Nalan is decent and conveys his fear and confusion well. Pavitrah Marimuthu does her part well, as she is the one who tries to communicate with ghosts. Other characters come and go and don't have much of a chance to showcase their abilities. Anupama Kumar and Abhi Nakshatra, who mostly came in the second half, also gave their best. Director-actor Gaurav Narayanan plays the role of Pavitra's brother in the film and does a good job.
Coming to the technical aspects, that is definitely something to appreciate. Both cinematography and music along with sound effects complement each other and make the experience enjoyable. Overall, Pizza 3 is a decent addition to the franchise as a one-off watch.
