Review: 'Asaeq' exposes us to the domain of jinn known as "Asaeq" (from which the word "Aashiq" comes)—who, when they settle on a person, become infatuated and challenge him for salvation. Although conceptually interesting, the text falls short because it fails to effectively portray the interesting subject.

Writer-director Sarin Momin manages to create a sense of unease by including haunting scenes at regular intervals. The film, however, fails to fully explore its premise and develop its characters, preventing the audience from connecting with the protagonists. The uneven pacing and predictable screenplay also contribute to frustration. The central plot revolving around Jinn seems half-heartedly written; The film could have been more effective with deeper writing and clarity. Additionally, the use of clichéd dialogues like "ek ladki ko bhulane ke tareka hai dusri ladki" further detracts from the overall experience.

Sonalli Segal gives a decent performance as Lyle in 'Asaek'. He is best known for his appearances in romantic comedies like 'Pair Ka Panchanama' and 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety', but here he plays a completely different persona. Seagal looks cute on screen, which can make it hard to connect with the other side of his personality. The trio of friends, Vardhan Puri, Siddhant Kapoor and Adi Chugh, play their roles well. On the other hand, their characters are underdeveloped, making it difficult for the audience to connect with them.

Shot in London, both the cinematography (Noren Gedyar) and the film's production design contribute to the film's restless mood. Background music is an important element of any horror movie, but it falls short in that category as well.

Despite the intriguing premise of the jinn and their obsession, 'Aseek' doesn't quite live up to the eerie atmosphere or the promise of breaking new ground in the supernatural genre. Nevertheless, it has some value and can be considered a one-time watch.
