Ego Story: Shiva, a middle-class family man, is desperate to find his missing wife Rhea. The plot revolves around whether he will find her or whether he has lost her forever.
Auham Review: 'Auham (meaning Maya),' revolves around the lives of Shiv (Hriday Singh) and Rhea (Divya Malik), a couple who run away to get married and live a happy life together. They have a daughter named Shreya and are content in their home. But their happiness is ruined when Riya mysteriously disappears. Devastated and desperate, Shiva seeks the help of a hard-working and efficient police officer, Yashwant (Varun Suri). Together, they embark on a quest to uncover the truth behind Riya's disappearance. As they delve deeper into their investigation, they uncover layers of mystery far greater than the heroes expected. The main question that drives the story is whether Shiva will find his wife or whether he has lost her forever. The viewer follows the twists and turns of the quest throughout the film, searching for a solution to the mystery.

The film is directed by Ankit Hans and co-written by Mahesh Kumar and Hridiya Singh (who plays the protagonist). The opening sequences of the movie take a while to establish the foundation, but the momentum picks up when the wife goes missing and the husband seeks police help. However, the narrative loses steam when the story of the past is told and slows down. Despite the multiple twists and turns throughout this 142-minute film, it becomes tiring to watch after a while.
A mystery thriller should have a taut and engaging narrative. Although the context of 'Aham' is interesting, a tighter screenplay and direction would have enhanced the film's impact. This 'Finding Rhea' search mission keeps you hooked for the most part because of the challenges and hurdles faced by Yashwant in solving the case. However, the narrative becomes overstretched and repetitive after intervals, potentially affecting the overall experience of the film.
Varun Suri delivers a decent performance as a tough cop who also displays a soft heart for children. However, his family story contributes little to the overarching plot. Hridiya Singh makes a sincere effort to evoke sympathy for his character, Shiva, especially in the emotional passages. Newcomer Divya Malik shows promise and looks stunning on screen. He acted admirably with the reveal of the climax. The rest of the supporting cast performances are passable.
In terms of story, 'Aham' has nothing new to offer. Slow pacing and an unnecessarily protracted narrative distract from the mystery thriller's appeal, ultimately making it an average film to watch.
